This Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA), written in 2014 by Karel A Bakker, Ishlanlosen Odiaua and George Abungu,is a response to the World Heritage Committee’s request that the State Party carry out a full Heritage Impact Assessment focusing on potential impacts of the first three berths of the Lamu Port. This Impact Assessment focuses on the possible impacts on the built heritage and natural environment of the property, but also on the social, cultural, and religious impacts to the area.
